EHA Connect is platform to inform and provide resources for practitioners and researchers in the field of humanitarian and environmental sectors. EHA Connect is an initiative by USAID, OCHA, UN Environment, UNHCR, MSB, WWF, IUCN and NRC.

These Terms and Conditions provide information about the use of the Website, with address www.ehaconnect.org and its use. By using this Website, you agree to accept all terms and conditions written in here. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for complete information on what personal data we collect and how we process and disclose it.

Ownership and liability of content

EHA Connect content is intended as guidance material only, and is not to be regarded as binding international regulation or legislation. EHA guidance does not reflect nor replace or supersede national, regional or international legislation, regulations or policies. Neither the UN nor any of its agencies or employees make any warranty, expressed or implied, or assumes any legal liability or responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, or any third party’s use or the results of such use of any information. Reference herein to any specific commercial product, process, or service by trade name, trademark, manufacturer, or otherwise, does not necessarily constitute or imply its endorsement, recommendation, or favoring by the UN or any agency thereof or its contractors or consultants.

Privacy Policy

When you use EHA Connect, we collect information about you and your session. In accordance with European regulations GDPR, here we explain how this information is collected and how it may be used.  

Use of Cookies

Cookies are small files which may be automatically stored on your device’s hard drive when your Web browser accesses a specific Web page. On EHA Connect, we use several cookies including first and third party cookies to offer you the best possible experience. These cookies are safe and don’t store any personal information by which users can be identified.

Cookies are stored in the user computer and can be deleted at any time by going to your browser settings. Cookies expire and are automatically deleted after the user session ends or up to a maximum of 24 months. At the beginning of each session, EHA Connect will ask users to allow cookies and obtain consent about these terms.

EHA Connect also uses third party tracking tools such as Google Analytics to track visits and site engagement. These tools use third party cookies which are anonymised and don’t contain any personal identifiable information.

When a user has registered and is logged in, EHA Connect will use cookies to save their preferences such as password and Reading List, or to offer personalised content based on previous visits to the site.

Personal Data

When you register for an EHA Connect Account, we collect personal data and you agree to provide the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Your Email Address
  • Your Organization (not mandatory)

Your personal data will be collected, processed, and used by EHA Connect. In accordance with European regulations GDPR we store your data on secure servers and have procedures in place to ensure personal data is protected, including encryption and other techniques.

We use your personal information to allow you to access your account and your saved bookmarks, as well as to administer the site.

When you create an account with EHA Connect a strong and secure password is recommended. It is your responsibility to ensure you choose a secure password when setting up an Account. Your data is not shared or distributed to any third party unless required by law.

Data Controller

The data controller for our site is EHA Connect (head of the UN Environment / OCHA Joint Unit). We are responsible for deciding how and why we hold and use your personal data. If you would like to contact us for information regarding how we use your data, please email ochaunep@un.org

We will store your data on secure servers for a maximum of 2 years. If we have asked for your permission to process your personal data and we have no other lawful ground to continue with that processing and you withdraw your permission, we will delete your personal data.

User Account Terms

EHA Connect offers an account registration system by which users can access extra features such as saving articles to a reading list for future reading.

Deleting an account

Any member of EHA Connect shall cancel and delete their account at any time by going to the My Account section and using the Delete My Account feature which will send a request for your personal information to be deleted. We use this request feature in case the account was deleted by mistake.

Downloading personal data

On the Account Settings page, there is the option to give consent to EHA Connect to download your data
